scraping by

scraping by, originally uploaded by gawdessness.

There were three of these on my street and a couple of big dump trucks too.

It is the kind of thing that I imagine people who have grown up in a different climate might find exotic.

Loud and big and yellow and just a little bit thrilling to watch them scrape the packed snow and ice off the road and into so many crumbs.

My oldest daughter said that she really like this shot because of the blur of the tires.

  1. I'm in the UK - I think it's very exotic! We just put out a bit of salt! Good picture with the tyres moving - do they go fast?

  2. Wait, are they scooping up snow and ice? I didn't think they were exotic at all at first, because I grew up in Florida and the South, where construction goes on nonstop year-round.

  5. I like it for the same reason your daughter does.

And may I add that I'm grateful not to live in your climate. :)

  6. LOL, I'm with Scrivener. Being from Florida,(and specifically Jacksonville, land of eternal road construction!)I wasn't getting it. But scraping ice and snow?? Yeah, that's EXTREMELY exotic for this FL girl. ;) I agree with your daughter, the motion is cool.

  7. Once again, I agree with your dd. My favorite part is the motion on the tires.
