Hanging in a tree in the front yard of the house right next to my church.
When I was a kid, we never lived in a house that we owned, because I grew up on military bases and housing was not something you could make your own.
I always wanted a swing in a tree in my own yard - as a kid, I thought of that as being sort of the coolest thing.
I really like the colors and textures in this photo. It evokes lots of memories for me too.
ReplyDeletebeautiful, wistful shot.
ReplyDeletei grew up in military housing too.
I grew up with the classic metal swingset, but up at my parents' camp we always had the wood and rope swings. Still do, in fact.
ReplyDeleteThat photo brings back happy memories. I like the perspective -- eyelevel, like how a child would see it.
Makes me want to be outside swinging...
ReplyDeleteevery time i see a swing, it brings back so many childhood memories.....and i cant help but share one of my fav. poems as a kid by R L Stevenson:
ReplyDeleteHow do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!
Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
River and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside –
Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown –
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!
I love this shot. I didn't notice the paint until I read the title, and then it got even cooler.
ReplyDeleteYup. This swing looks like it's seen better days though. We have a tree swing squeezed next to the fence. If they are not careful they whack their heads or toes and get boo boos. I think it's worth it for the fun.
