love libraries
the way they smell
the hush of carpet underfoot
or the creak of wood floors
or the slither of terrazzo or tile
the quiet
the chairs
the tables
and
the books!

When I ask to photograph someone, it is because I love the way they look and I think I make that clear. I'm paying them a tremendous compliment. What I'm saying is, I want to take you home with me and look at you for the rest of my life. - Amy Arbus

Me too, the library is probably my favourite place to be (apart from rock gigs - one extreme to the other!). I love the picture and the way you're looking up the rail - it makes me feel like a child looking at the big doors from that perspective.
Yes! One of my favorite places to be -- all the possibilities!
I love the perspective of this picture. And particularly liked the mention of smell in your poem. I think it was "slither" though that made me recall the open windows at the un-air conditioned section of the Boston Library where large open windows never let enough breeze cross the thick wooden tables. You could almost touch the deep thoughts.
me too!!! I feel so much at peace in one......while my husband says he feels claustrophobic in libraries!!!! we love to disagree :)
