we took a chance on the outdoor pool this afternoon
many people didn't
and when the threatening skies cleared for the two hours we were there
and the sun poured down
it was easy to imagine that it existed simply for our own pleasure
and we ate broken cookies and peanut butter and jam triangle sandwiches and
felt like millionaires,
well, warm, wet and freckled ones

When I ask to photograph someone, it is because I love the way they look and I think I make that clear. I'm paying them a tremendous compliment. What I'm saying is, I want to take you home with me and look at you for the rest of my life. - Amy Arbus

there are few things so nice as getting the pool all to yourself :) great pic.
I love how you write these posts. So lyrical.
When my kids were little, we'd head to the beach whenever there was a thunderstorm. By the time we got to the beach, everyone would have left and as soon as the storm was over, we'd have the place to ourselves.
That is such a wonderful feeling, isn't it? I haven't been to the pool since my kids were little -- this is such an evocative post. Thanks for the memories!
Wonderful. Beautiful. So you.
Isn't it nice when taking a chance pays off in a positive way? :)
love those good days
