Ducklings, geese, ravens and Pileated Woodpeckers - oh my!
It was a fowl weather kind of day at the park today.
(Please accept my sincerest apologies for that pun, yes it was dreadful but I have no willpower, I am weak and frankly it is also pretty darn cold here still.)
Big, gaudy and attention grabbing - that bright red mohawk is hard to ignore.
Still if it weren't for the sharp eyes of my kids I might have passed right by this guy.
They often see what I don't, but I am often smart enough to point my camera at what they are looking at - so it all works out.

When I ask to photograph someone, it is because I love the way they look and I think I make that clear. I'm paying them a tremendous compliment. What I'm saying is, I want to take you home with me and look at you for the rest of my life. - Amy Arbus

I've never seen one on the ground before! Nice capture.
love your red head....and i did smile at the fowl/foul pun.....:)
You're killin' me with the fabulous bird shots!
Damned pileated woodpeckers. I used to think they were cute, but then I bought a house with cedar siding.
Wow!!!
Kids have amazing vision don't they? Maybe because their brains are not as crowded with mundane things as ours are. Great shot - and love his red head!
