gang way

gang way, originally uploaded by gawdessness.

The camera club, of which I am a shiny new member has monthly competitions.
I am screwing my courage to the sticking point and entering some prints (eek! I may never mention it again - or I might, at any rate it is in the next week or two).
The theme is Things With Wings.
This shot may not be one I enter but it speaks to me.
There are times when I feel like that panicky goose looks - running like heck, flapping my arms and fully expecting my butt to get bit.
Not sure why but I also feel compelled to add this:

The park was geese full,
they are not peaceful.

Forgive me.

Do you know the poem "The Panic Bird" by Robert Phillips? I was just rereading that this afternoon.

Screw up your courage! You should enter it...I love the selective focus on his head contrasted with the blurred flapping wings. Go for it.

I love this shot - just capturing birds in motion is pretty cool :)

Oh, you timed this one really well! Wonderful action shot. A real challenge. I definitely think it's worth submitting.

Good shot! and enter the contest - you have some excellent photos throughout your blog and you will learn even more from your club members. The geese have become year round residents of our part of Maryland, and they sometimes get pushy. We also see large "V" formations flying north about this time of the year.

When I ask to photograph someone, it is because I love the way they look and I think I make that clear. I'm paying them a tremendous compliment. What I'm saying is, I want to take you home with me and look at you for the rest of my life.
