About 15 years ago, for reasons I can't quite remember - a veritable herd of these fibreglass bison took up position on the main road way into town.
They were slightly controversial but I liked them, tricked out in all different colours and patterns.
The fact that they were so accurately modeled after real bison down to their male parts, inspired a minor crime wave of sorts - some unknown person or persons felt the need to alter a number of them.
Like the bison of yore, these ones disappeared from the streets and went I don't know where...
Until we saw this one today, tucked away in an industrial area.
The green is peeling off his back a bit, but the gold paint on his nose and horns is still bright and the rest of him is...
intact.

When I ask to photograph someone, it is because I love the way they look and I think I make that clear. I'm paying them a tremendous compliment. What I'm saying is, I want to take you home with me and look at you for the rest of my life. - Amy Arbus

about 8 or 9 years ago, there were painted pigs all over Cincinnati. I took photos of as many of them as I could find.
funny that there is one still floating around.
What a colour! The only one I know of is right downtown, across from where husband works. It's got African scenes painted on it.
Winnipeg had a street of polar bears sculptures, all done by different artists. I think they're in different museums now. Wasn't it Calgary that did cows? I love this sort of stuff.
er... where "my" husband works. Oops. *L*
My kid says she doesn't like it because it's green and ugly. I say that's exactly what I like about it. Green. And ugly. Awesome.
We have painted horses all around Louisville. I love them. They are so fun to run across.
he looks...
intense...
Snowstorm City went with horses -- we still have a few around.
We have painted turtles here.
we saw a real one here in a wildlife park yesterday and it wasn't green at all :DDD
Sort of like san francisco & its painted hearts everywhere. funny i went & took pictures of a giant cow today
We have painted Jaguars around our town. Never checked to see if they have "parts" though, LOL! I'm sure it would have made the news if they did.
